Can you fold a piece of A4 paper more than 7 times?

As a part of an extension activity for multiplication where the kids are supposed to see the pattern between the number of sections with the number of folds, the kids are also challenged to fold a piece of A4 paper more than 7 times. The kids realised that it is quite hard and saw a video on how some people try to bust the myth by using a piece of gigantic paper.

A Big Thank You

Special thanks to Sean's, Kyle's and Alessandra's mummy who spent quite some time to decorate the Collage corridor with wall decals and stencilling. The kids had a great time stencilling the wall with their favourite animals.

Which animals lay eggs?

Does platypus lay eggs?
Searching for the correct egg.

Can you identify those animals that lay eggs?

The kids had a revision game on which animals lay eggs. They were supposed to search through the box of eggs and identify the Easter egg that has the name of the animal that lays egg. If they identify the eggs correctly, they could keep the eggs as a reward.

Remainder Racoons

The kids were introduced to another game "Remainder Raccoon". The kids are hungry raccoons, racing through the spoils of a human picnic. To earn their dinner, the kids must throw a dice, divide a larger number on the game board by that number shown on the dice and find the remainder. This game helps the kids to revise the topic on "Division with remainder".

Aqua Fiesta 2010

Watching the competition...
Waiting patiently for their turn at the pool.
Everyone is all geared up to don on their swim wear and jump into the pool.

The kids ended Term 1 at Jurong West Swimming Pool where they had a great time playing with the facilities there.

Flip 4!!!

The kids use their computation skills (Addition, Subtraction and Multiplication) to try to get 4 squares in a row on the game board. The challenge comes when the kids' aim to win the game is counter-attacked by their opponents who will flip their squares to prevent them from winning.

Visit to Lucasfilm

Our little animators...

We can draw...

Presentation of corporate gift by Mrs Lee

Kids were looking intently at the film cut out.

The kids had the opportunity to visit Lucasfilm on 24 May 2010. Special thanks to Alessandra's and Kyle's father who took the trouble to make this trip possible. The kids listened to an introduction to animation by Tad, the curriculum manager. Tad shared how he adores Starwars since he was young and the journey he underwent to become who he is today. The kids received a short film cut out and learnt that there were 24 frames in 1 second of movie. Several animators also taught the kids how to draw the characters from Starwars. Some kids had the chance to do some simple animation using the models from Starwars. The kids had thoroughly enjoyed themselves that day.
