A Snatch Thief

Food Poisoning

He broke out in a cold sweat. Shivering like a leaf, he held his abdomen tightly as there was a very bad cramp. He began to feel nauseous. With weak limbs, he staggered to the toilet and he started vomiting.

These are symptoms of food poisoning. What could have caused it? Who was there to help him? How did the story end?

A Hike in the Forest

A family of four went on a hike in the forest. The girl found a bird nest with three eggs lying precariously in it on the grassy land. For more details, read the Composition entitled 'A Hike in the Forest' written by some of the pupils from P3J & P3K.

Camille and the Sunflowers - the final work

Samuel from P3K playing the role of Vincent van Gogh, the painter. The life painting incorporated in the skit is a very fresh and creative idea. Check out his 'beard' - a serious 'painter' at work!

One of the groups was so confident in their acting skills that they were very enthusiastic about doing the skit again in front of the two Collage classes in the gallery! It's definitely a very good platform for all to learn from one another in one way or another.

Most of the pictures were taken as group pictures as it was difficult to capture all the members in a picture while they were acting.

A total of five more groups will be presenting their skits on Friday 23 July. Pictures of the groups will be uploaded in due course.

Camille and the Sunflowers - Skit Preparation

Pupils of P3J and P3K are preparing for a skit on the story 'Camille and the Sunflowers'.
Wow! This particular group is all ready for the skit. Look at their attractive props! The painting that Rebecca (second from left) from P3J is holding looks familiar, isn't it? This piece of work is painted by her. It's indeed a very impressive piece of work. She has put in a lot of effort painting it, I'm sure.

BINGO

P3K - Tasha & Shane Qi (Left) P3J - Rebecca & Alessandra (Right)

The above are the winners for the Bingo game. This activity highlighted the vocabulary that pupils had learnt. The pupils carefully selected nine words out of the list of words I flashed on the visualiser, verbalising each word as it was being drawn and checking if they had the word in any of the nine boxes. Pupils were given a token each for 3-word bingo and 9-word bingo.

Sole-searching vs Soul-searching

From the above newspaper cutting, pupils were told to reflect and respond to four questions posed by teacher.

Below are some interesting responses taken from their journal entries:

1) He thought he could get away scot-free.
2) Park should do some soul-searching.
3) There is no shortcut to success.
4) His intention to grow the shoe business was right but his act was
wrong.

Activities for "A Kitten for the King"

Pupils played Snake and Ladder game based on the story taken from
Unit 1 : A Kitten for the King. Each group was given a copy of the storybook and they could refer to the book to find the answers to the questions.

Here, you see pupils working on a mind map based on the same story "A Kitten for the King". They had to identify the Main Characters and the setting in the story. They also had to discuss the storyline and record it in 3 parts: Beginning, Main Body and Ending. The completed mind maps are displayed in class.
