Maths Games

The kids learnt how to play 2 games so far. For the first game, "From Here to There", the objective of the game is to rearrange the numbers determined by the dice from the smallest to the greatest. The kids had to strategise where they should place their numbers so that they would have the best chance to complete all the boxes. For the second game, "Wolves and Coyotes", the objective of the game is to conquer as many plots of land as possible. The kids had to strategise how to place the counters on each plot of land so that they can conquer their partner's land.

Understanding the National Anthem

Getting ready to sing the National Anthem.

Revising the lyrics for a final time.

Listening to Mr Mohd as he explained why there is a need for the National Anthem.

Mr Mohd shared with the kids the reasons of having a national anthem and some of the common words that were sung wrongly were highlighted to the kids. The kids were tickled by the fact on how ridiculous the national anthem would sound if the words are sung wrongly. Then, the P3 Collage kids had an opportunity to have a friendly singing competition with P4 Collage kids. After a tough decision, our P3 Collage kids did us proud. They sang the loudest and with accuracy. Well done, kids!!! =)

The kids were given an opportunity to learn caricature drawing with Peter Zhou aka Peter Draw. 23-year-old Peter holds a world record for drawing the world's largest caricature in three hours. This successful caricature artist taught the kids some simple pointers on how to draw caricature. The kids then went on to try caricature drawing of their friends.

Colours of Heritage

The kids were given the opportunity to visit a novel museum on wheels that showcases an exciting offering of traditional games, food preparation techniques and ethnic fabrics. The kids had a great time challenging one another to different traditional games. The interactive touchscreen television kept the kids captivated as they learnt more about the differences between each ethnic wedding ceremony.

P3K- Class Monitor Campaign

This was what we did when technology failed us. The visualiser was sent for servicing so the kids had to gather at the front of the classroom to listen to the 3-minute presentations by the candidates. The rest of the kids were then given 2 votes to cast. Aidan and Jenna garnered the highest number of votes and were appointed as the Class Monitor and Class Monitress respectively.

Orientation

The pupils started their first day of school at the foyer. After the flag raising ceremony, they proceeded to the gallery where Mr Ng shared with the P3/P4 Collage kids on the expectations of being a Collage kid and some housekeeping matters. The pupils then spent the rest of the day cleaning up the new classrooms, doing self introductions to their classmates and playing team bonding games. The Collage teachers were exceptionally amazed that the kids could rearrange themselves according to their height or birth dates in silence. =) The games also allowed the intermingling between the two classes so that the kids had the chance to make more friends.

Forest Adventure

The pupils had the opportunity to start their Collage year at Forest Adventure where they had to complete an aerial course built through trees comprising of bridges, swings, trapezes and zip lines. It was heartening to see the pupils cheering one another on so that all of them could complete the course . The Collage teachers, Mdm Chew, Mdm Lim, Mr Mohd and Ms Mak, felt so proud of the pupils who must overcome their fear of heights to complete the course. Well done, Collage kids! =)

Activities for "A Kitten for the King"

Pupils played Snake and Ladder game based on the story taken from
Unit 1 : A Kitten for the King. Each group was given a copy of the storybook and they could refer to the book to find the answers to the questions.

Here, you see pupils working on a mind map based on the same story "A Kitten for the King". They had to identify the Main Characters and the setting in the story. They also had to discuss the storyline and record it in 3 parts: Beginning, Main Body and Ending. The completed mind maps are displayed in class.

P3J - Class Monitor Campaign

These were our seven very courageous and admirable candidates who had campaigned for the Class Monitor positions. They prepared their speeches over the weekends and almost all came prepared with powerpoint slides. This took place on Monday 11 Jan. Each candidate was given a maximum of 3 minutes to showcase their abilities. Thereafter, their classmates voted for their class monitors. The two highest votes went to Rebecca Sim and Nicholas Tan. Please see picture below.
